Zogli residents appeal for Kindergarten in Wa West

Residents of Zogli in the Wa West District are calling for urgent intervention to address the lack of a kindergarten in their community.

Currently, young children must walk several kilometers daily to attend school in Guo, a neighboring community. This not only poses a significant burden on families but also exposes the children to various dangers, including accidents and attacks in isolated areas.

Concerned parents have expressed fears over their children trekking through lonely bush paths to access education. Speaking to Info Radio, some residents appealed to the government and non-governmental organizations for support in establishing a kindergarten within Zogli.

“We have a major challenge with our children’s education. The absence of a kindergarten forces them to travel long distances daily. We urgently need government and NGO support to build one for our children,” a resident pleaded.

The lack of a kindergarten, they say, limits access to early childhood education and forces parents to take time off to escort their children, adding to their struggles.

Mr. Seabah Eugene, spokesperson for the chief, Naa Sumaila Salifu, emphasized the risks involved. He noted that the road leading to Guo is often busy with illegal miners (‘galamseyers’) riding motorcycles at high speeds, endangering schoolchildren.

“One of our children was knocked down by a motor rider and has since refused to go to school,” he revealed, highlighting the urgent need for a local kindergarten to ensure the safety and education of young learners.

Residents are now appealing to authorities and benevolent organizations to step in and address this pressing issue.
