The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bongo, Hon. Joseph Akasake Abaah, has announced a major boost for women’s empowerment and maternal health in the district following a successful stakeholders’ meeting with officials from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Korea Food for the Hungry International (KFC).
Held on Tuesday, the meeting focused on developing sustainable strategies to empower vulnerable women in Bongo through targeted skills training and secure access to international markets, particularly in Korea and other partes of the world.
“Yesterday, I had the privilege of joining the KFC-KOICA stakeholders’ meeting to deliberate on strategies to empower vulnerable women across the district,” Hon. Akasake stated. “We had a productive and successful discussion.”
He also revealed that KOICA will construct a state-of-the-art Nutrition Centre for nursing mothers, a project expected to significantly enhance maternal health services across the district.
The meeting was attended by the Paramount Chief of Bongo and selected Assembly Members, whose presence, according to the DCE, added weight to the district’s shared vision of inclusive development.
“We remain sincerely grateful to KOICA for partnering with the Bongo District Assembly to uplift and empower our vulnerable women,” Hon. Akasake said. “Together, we are building a stronger, more inclusive future.”
This partnership marks a significant step in the Bongo District’s efforts to foster economic empowerment and improve health outcomes for women, especially those in rural communities.
