The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Aminu Amidu Mohammed, for possessing large quantities of harmful drugs and an unlicensed firearm at his hideout in Sabon Zongo, Accra.
Acting on a tip-off from a local community watchdog, the Accra Regional Intelligence Team swooped in on the suspect, uncovering a stash of prescription-only medications, including Gebedol and various opioids commonly referred to as “Red.”
Addressing the media on Monday, May 26, at the Regional Headquarters, Commander DCOP Duuti Tuaruku confirmed that the suspect had been arraigned in court.
“The Police would like to bring to the notice of the public a successful arrest and have charged a 30-year-old trader for possession of quantities of dangerous drugs and an unlicensed firearm,” DCOP Tuaruku stated.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and continue partnering with law enforcement in combating crime across the region.
