Bolga Sharp Arrows Ladies FC have written their names in Upper East football history, sealing the 2024/25 Women’s Division One title.
The team finished as runners up last season to Bolga All Stars Ladies but their resilience and hard work saw than clinched the title this season with 4 points better than second place side, Kunkua Ladies.
The Bolgatanga-based side were coronated with the league title on Saturday in a coronation match that saw them beat the GFA Elite Academy Ladies 3:1
Head coach Rita Ayinbire praised her squad’s discipline and unity:
“We began this journey in December with one vision—bring the trophy to Bolga. The girls sacrificed, trained at dawn, and believed. Today we celebrate them.”

By clinching the regional crown, Bolga Sharp Arrows Ladies have earned a berth in the Northern Zone promotional play-offs slated for late May at Nadowli Macoy Astro Turf in Wa. Victory there would elevate them to the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, Ghana’s top tier of women’s football.
Club president Peter Aneriba outlined their next steps: “The mission isn’t complete. We’ll reinforce the squad, arrange high-intensity friendlies, and head into the play-offs ready to fight for Premier League status.”
The Arrows’ success has galvanised women’s football in the Upper East Region, inspiring young girls in Bolgatanga, and surrounding districts to take up the sport.
Regional Football Association chairman Salifu Zida congratulated the team, stating that their triumph shows the immense talent in the team, their determination and underscores why continued investment in women’s football is essential.
He also wished the team well as they travel to compete in the National Women’s Zonal Championships.
