The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has formally cautioned the acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, following a recent gifting incident.
Government spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, says the Presidency has declared the matter resolved after his apology.
The decision was announced during a press briefing on Wednesday, May 14.
“So in view of that, the Presidency does not believe that any further actions ought to be taken beyond the apology and the caution,” Mr Kwakye Ofosu stated.
The spokesperson explained that “the Chief of Staff cautioned him, having acknowledged the apology he made, he cautioned him and impressed upon him to take on board public sentiment and act in ways that reflect public expectation.”
The Minister explained that while certain behaviors might be acceptable in private life, public officials must uphold higher standards.
“We must be sensitive to what Ghanaians expect from us,” he added.
The Presidency has determined that no further disciplinary action is necessary beyond the issued warning.
On the feedback received since the incident ensued last week, Mr Kwakye Ofosu stressed that “we value feedback.”
“We are aware that Ghanaians expect high standards in the performance of our duties as public officials. We remain committed to meeting those high standards to ensure that we deliver the best of governance to our people who have been long suffering in the last few years under poor governance.”
Mr Gyamfi, who recently assumed the acting CEO role, has pledged to align his actions with public expectations moving forward.
