Premier League dominance in MTN FA Cup Finals

-

Premier League clubs have dominated the MTN FA Cup finals since FC Nania defeated Asante Kotoko in the 2010/2011 season.

Evans Omani’s goal proved crucial for the Pride of Paga in that thrilling final at the Accra Sports Stadium, handing the trophy to FC Nania, which featured players like Joseph Takyi Mensah, Abdul-Aziz Abankwah, Lawrence Lartey, Prince Baffoe, and goalkeeper Michael Sai.

Since then, lower-tier sides have struggled to match the quality of Premier League clubs in the final, with the likes of Okwahu United King Faisal and Bofoakwa Tano faltering in three different finals in 2016, 2023 and 2024. Lower tier sides King Faisal and Bofoakwa Tano lost to Dreams FC and Nsoatreman FC, respectively.
