An important feature of the Blackstar Experience highlighted by the Coordinator, Rex Omar, is the intended decentralisation of activities and events for the initiative.
According to Rex Omar, a fashion week set for the experience will be held in Tamale, the Northern Regional capital.
“Black star experience is not gonna be an Accra-Kumasi event, it’s a national event. So in July, for example, we’re gonna do a fashion week at Tamale. And this is where the president himself is going to be on the runway. It’s a historic moment and an exciting moment for the first time a president, the number one man on the land is going to be on the runway,” he told Doreen Avio in an interview on Hitz FM.
“Imagine Tamale that in a very near future people will travel all over the world, after all we have an international airport. People will travel all over the world to Tamale for fashion week. Different fashion designers from the continent and other places around the globe will come to showcase what they have, as Ghanaians also showcase what we have to the globe, and it’s happening in Tamale,” he added.
Rex Omar added that there will also be Ghana Food Month celebration where local cuisine will be showcased. This will encourage Ghanaians to eat what they grow and grow what they eat, with plans to observe the month and potentially host events in the future.
With the President’s involvement and a focus on national events, this initiative has the potential to put Ghana on the global map in a unique and creative way.
