What began as a story of tragedy is slowly transforming into a testimony of hope and humanity, thanks to the timely and compassionate intervention of Gabriel Kwamigah Atokple Tanko, a Council of State representative of the Volta region.
The Tanko Foundation, under the leadership of Mr Tanko, formally presented GH₵35,000.00 to a family whose twin daughters have been battling life-altering medical complications.
The funds were deposited directly into the bank accounts of the twins’ parents to help cover urgent medical expenses and the girls’ long-term welfare.
For a family who has endured unimaginable trauma and pain, the gesture brought not just financial relief but a renewed sense of belonging and assurance that they are not alone.
“These girls have suffered enough. This is not just about charity, it’s about justice, about standing up for lives that matter,” Mr Tanko stated during the handover.

“As a nation, we must never look away when our children are hurting. We must act.”
The twin sisters, now affectionately known by supporters as “the girls of grace,” have become a symbol of resilience. Born into a storm of misfortune, including what is believed to be a case of medical negligence, their journey has touched the hearts of many, sparking calls for systemic reform in healthcare and increased support for families affected by similar cases.
The Tanko Foundation used the occasion to draw national attention to the issue of medical accountability.
“Medical negligence is inexcusable. Every life, especially that of a child, deserves to be treated with the utmost care and diligence,” a statement from the foundation read.
“We must demand better from our health systems.”
The Foundation also expressed profound gratitude for the unwavering support, describing the generosity as a lifeline extended at a critical hour.
As the story of these young girls spreads, so does the ripple of compassion. Community leaders, faith groups, and ordinary citizens are being urged to follow Mr Tanko’s example, not just in words, but in action.
