In a thrilling display of cultural pride and musical brilliance, Ghana’s very own BB. Batongo has made waves across West Africa after securing 3rd place among more than 50 contestants at the prestigious Festival Kafosi held in Zabré, Burkina Faso.

The 9th edition of Festival Kafosi, celebrated from April 26 to May 5, 2025, brought together a vibrant mix of artists, performers, and cultural ambassadors from Burkina Faso, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and beyond.

With its theme rooted in unity and resistance against extremism — “Enracinés dans nos cultures, renforçons notre engagement patriotique face au terrorisme et à toute forme d’extrémisme violent” — the festival emphasized culture as a pillar of peace and resilience.

BB. Batongo, known for his mastery of the traditional kologo and his soulful storytelling, captivated both the audience and judges with his authentic sound, energetic performance and stage presence.

His performance not only earned him a top-three spot but also deepened cross-cultural appreciation between Ghana and Burkina Faso.

The festival, organized by the Kafosi Association, is a major event in the cultural calendar of the Bissa people. It featured traditional dances, musical showcases, culinary exhibitions, and artisan crafts, all celebrating the region’s heritage.

Despite ongoing security challenges in the region, Festival Kafosi stood firm as a symbol of cultural endurance.
