GFA Talent Identification Programme receives overwhelming support in Western Region

The Ghana Football Association’s Talent Identification Programme has garnered significant participation and patronage from colts coaches, physical education tutors, and football enthusiasts in the region.

The programme was held in the Ellembelle and Shama districts from April 23-26 and 28-30, 2025, respectively. It equipped physical education tutors, colts coaches, and district coordinators with skills in basic coaching, talent identification, development, and scouting through a seminar and football festival for basic school pupils.

Despite the schools being on vacation, an impressive 420 junior high school pupils from the two districts participated in the football festival, showcasing their talents for potential selection into junior national teams and GFA academies.

Gregory Owusu Ekpo, an albino and form two student of Asemko Basic School in Essiama, expressed his joy, saying, “We thank the GFA for bringing this programme to our doorstep in Nzema.”

Similarly, Raymond Kwofie, a physically challenged student of ANWIA Methodist Basic School, praised the GFA for organizing the programme in Nzema, saying it was a wonderful opportunity for young talents to be discovered.
