The national U20 team, the Black Satellites, departed for Egypt on Saturday, April 19, 2025, to begin final preparations for the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations. Led by 2023 African Games Gold winner, Coach Desmond Ofei, the team is determined to make a strong impression in the tournament, which features 13 teams from across Africa. The Black Satellites are intent on qualifying for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

The U20 AFCON, being hosted by Egypt, will commence on the 27th of April, 2025 and end on the 18th of May, 2025. The tournament will feature thirteen teams divided into three groups. The primary objective of each participating nation is qualification for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.
The Black Satellites, who have gone through various stages of preparation, wrapped up their local preparations with a 2-0 win over Inter Allies, at the end of a two-week training camp in Accra. The camp saw Head Coach Desmond Ofei and his Technical team, taking the assembled players through various drills aimed at fine-tuning their skills and developing strategies for the tournament. Prior to this two-week camp, the squad took a one-week break after participating in a three-nation tournament in Morocco.

The Black Satellites will face defending Champions, Senegal, in Group C, with their other Group opponents being the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Central African Republic.
The team is looking to draw motivation from their gold winning feat in the 2023 African Games and to build on this success in Egypt. Coach Desmond Ofei and his lads are focused on delivering a strong performance and making Ghanaians proud.
Other nations participating in the tournament are Egypt, Zambia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Nigeria, Tunisia, Kenya and Morocco. The competition promises to be exciting and fierce as all thirteen nations vie for the four slots to represent Africa at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile later this year.
