Led by Management Committee Chairman and GFA Executive Council member, Alhaji Abu-Hassan Mahamadu, the 29-member delegation that made the trip consists of 16 players and 13 officials. The team’s primary goal is to qualify for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile. Ghana has a rich history in African youth football, having won the U-20 AFCON four times (1993, 1999, 2009, and 2021) and becoming the first African team to lift the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2009.

Ghana has been drawn in Group C and will face strong opposition from defending champions, Senegal, who are also in the group. The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Central African Republic make up the rest of the group.

The team will spend another week training in Cairo before the tournament begins. Prior to departing for Egypt, the team wrapped up a two-week training camp in Accra with a 2-0 win over local club side Inter Allies. The squad also participated in a three-nation tournament in Rabat, Morocco, to fine-tune their tactics and assess player readiness.
