Interior Minister Revises Binduru Curfew Hours

The Minister for the Interior, Hon Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has ordered an immediate revision of curfew hours in Binduri and surrounding areas after the ressugence of deadly attacks.The curfew now starts from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM with immidaite effective .

The statement signed by the Hon the Minister has  stressed that the decision was based on several recommendations from the Upper East Regional Security Council and is enforced through an Executive Instrument.

“Government urges Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and all residents to remain calm and resolve grievances through peaceful, non-violent means.”

As part of heightened security measures, A ban has been placed on the use of motorbikes, tricycles, and ‘aboboyaa’, with offenders facing arrest and prosecution.The possession of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons is strictly prohibited.Men wearing smocks—believed by authorities to be used to conceal weapons in conflict zones—are also banned from doing so in the area.

This security crackdown follows a gruesome gun gruesome gun attack in Atuba, a suburb of Binduri Central, which left one man dead. According to security sources, the attackers not only shot the victim but also set both his body and motorcycle on fire.

The incident occurred less than 24 hours after the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, met with the Bawku Naba, Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, and called for stronger collaboration between traditional authorities and security agencies to restore peace.
