A group of traditional priestesses in Tema took to the streets today, clad in red cloth, to protest the appointment of Ebi Bright as the new Mayor of Tema.
The priestesses voiced strong opposition, citing concerns over Ebi Bright’s non-indigenous background, which they argue makes her unfit to lead the municipality.
According to them, the position of mayor should be held by a native of Tema who understands the cultural heritage and the needs of the local people.
The demonstration, which drew significant attention, was first reported by blogger SikaOfficial on social media earlier today.
Images and videos circulating online show the priestesses chanting and marching through the streets in a show of defiance.
While the government has yet to respond to the protest, the demonstration highlights growing tensions over the appointment and raises questions about local representation in governance.
