Government clears 31 days arrears owed school feeding caterers

The government, through the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP), has settled the 31 days of arrears owed to caterers under the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) for the first term of the 2024/2025 academic year.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, April 9, the School Feeding Programme Secretariat expressed gratitude to the government for the timely disbursement of funds, which has allowed for the payment of outstanding arrears to caterers.

The statement, signed by the National Coordinator of the Programme, Hajia Fati Forgor, also extended appreciation to donor partners for their continued support and collaboration in sustaining the initiative.

As part of ongoing reforms, the School Feeding Secretariat — operating under the supervision of the MoGCSP — has commenced a restructuring exercise aimed at decentralizing the Programme’s operations. The restructuring seeks to enhance the quality of meals served to schoolchildren and ensure prompt and consistent payments to caterers.
