Ghana and the Czech Republic have renewed their commitment to deeper political and economic cooperation during Czech President Petr Pavel’s historic visit to the Jubilee House.
In talks with President John Mahama, the two leaders highlighted shared democratic values, expanded trade at $33 million, and collaboration in healthcare, security, and climate action.
They witnessed signing a Bilateral Air Services Agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations.
President Mahama praised longstanding ties dating back to 1961 and urged private-sector partnerships under the AfCFTA.
He acknowledged Czech support in healthcare and pushed for the revival of stalled infrastructure projects, including the 50 and 100 Bridges initiatives.
He also called for Czech support in regional security efforts and Ghana’s candidate for the UN Tourism Organisation.
President Pavel, the first Czech head of state to visit Ghana in over 60 years, announced the opening of a Czech Technology Hub and expressed optimism about expanding cooperation in agriculture, mining, health, and water purification.
“This visit marks a new phase in our relations and we are committed to making it even stronger,” he said.
