A tragic accident on the Aseseeso stretch between Adukrom and Somanya has left several students from Ben Kunadu SDA Basic School in Asante Akyem feared dead after their bus crashed while on an excursion to Akosombo.
The vehicle, carrying 62 children, reportedly lost control while descending a hill, somersaulting before landing on its side. Emergency response teams, including the Police, Fire Service, and Ambulance personnel, are currently at the scene, working to rescue trapped victims.
Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Awatey, who was passing by, joined rescue efforts and helped transport some of the injured to the Yilo Krobo Municipal Hospital.
The extent of casualties remains unclear as rescue operations continue.
Authorities have yet to confirm the exact number of fatalities and injuries, but the incident has sent shockwaves through the community.
