Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former Director General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), expressed confidence in his legal battle following a recent court appearance regarding his bail application.
As he exited the courtroom, Adu-Boahene addressed assembled journalists, stating, “I’ll definitely come out of this.”
Adu-Boahene was arrested on March 19, 2025, at Kotoka International Airport upon his arrival from London.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) apprehended him in connection with alleged financial crimes, including money laundering, fraud, and misappropriation of public funds.
According to Attorney General and Minister of Justice Dominic Ayine, Adu-Boahene is accused of diverting approximately $7 million intended for a cyber defense system contract into private accounts.
Investigations revealed that, shortly after signing a contract with Israeli firm RLC Holdings Limited in January 2020, Adu-Boahene transferred an initial amount of GH¢27.1 million from the NSB’s account to a private company he co-owns with his wife.
During his tenure at the NSB from 2017 until February 2025, Adu-Boahene oversaw several national security infrastructure projects, including the controversial cyber defense system procurement.
The alleged misappropriation of funds has raised concerns about financial accountability within Ghana’s national security agencies.
As the legal proceedings continue, Adu-Boahene remains optimistic about his exoneration.
The court is expected to rule on his bail application in the coming days.
