Kpandai MP, Matthew Nyindam, has stated that he cannot confirm whether Kwabena Adu-Boahen, the embattled former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, belongs to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) or the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In an interview on GHOne, monitored by NewsnetGh, Nyindam firmly denied any knowledge of Adu-Boahen’s political affiliations.
“I don’t know him, okay? And I’m not sure I know his political affiliations, whether he belongs to NPP or NDC—I cannot say for sure,” he said.
When the host, Serwaa Amihere, pointed out that Adu-Boahen was part of the NPP’s 2024 manifesto committee on security, Nyindam maintained that such a role did not necessarily indicate party membership.
“This man in question is a technocrat. He’s been there until we came into government. He rose through the ranks to become a director,” he explained.
According to the MP, being part of a manifesto drafting committee does not automatically make one a political party member. “Maybe somebody wanted to tap into his wisdom—that is it,” he added.
Nyindam’s comments come amid an ongoing investigation into Adu-Boahen, who allegedly embezzled GH¢39 million from the National Signals Bureau.
Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine confirmed that Adu-Boahen and his wife are being tracked and will soon face legal action.
“We are still tracking suspect Adu-Boahen, his wife, and their assets. In the coming days, we will file the necessary charges against them,” Dr. Ayine said on Monday, March 24.
Adu-Boahen was arrested by the National Investigative Bureau (NIB) at the Kotoka International Airport, while his wife was later picked up from their residence.
The case continues to generate public interest, with political and security analysts closely monitoring developments.
