The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced a new reopening date for single-track Senior High Schools (SHSs). The dates which were previously scheduled from March 29, 2025, to April 23, 2025 have revised.
In an official communicate dated March 27, 2025, which addresses all regional education directors, the GES directed school heads to inform parents, guardians, and students about the new adjustment.
In a letter signed by Prince C. Agyeman-Duah, Director of the Schools and Instructions Division, on behalf of the Acting Director-General, urged stakeholders to take note and prepare accordingly.
Students were set to resume on March 29 after after schools were closed down on March 4. However, The celebration of the upcoming Eid-Ul-Fitr and a holiday on March 30 and 31 initially led to a shift to April 1.
Following further assessment, GES extended the date to April 23 to ensure a smooth academic schedule.
The Ministry of the Interior explained that since Eid-Ul-Fitr falls on Sunday, March 30, the President, through an Executive Instrument (E.I.), had declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, as public holidays in Ghana
