Linda Ocloo marks 50 days in office with 126 streetlights restored

Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Akweley Ocloo, has marked her 50th day in office with a significant milestone—restoring 126 streetlights across various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs).

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, March 25, Ocloo emphasized her commitment to enhancing visibility and security across the region.

“Today, March 25, marks exactly my 50 days in office, and I am pleased to report that significant progress has been made. In all, about 126 streetlights have been worked on, including some highways, town roads, and community roads across the 29 MMDAs in the region,” she stated.

Her achievement aligns with an earlier pledge to restore at least 70 percent of non-functional streetlights within her first 50 days.

While celebrating the progress, she acknowledged that major routes such as the Tema Motorway and the Accra-Tema Beach Road remain unlit due to ongoing construction.

“I must mention that the Tema Motorway and the Accra-Tema Beach Road, which is of very much concern to the general public, could not be lightened because of the ongoing construction works,” she explained.

The restoration of streetlights is expected to enhance road safety, reduce crime, and improve night-time navigation in affected areas.
