Samuel Atta Akyea, legal counsel for former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director Kwabena Adu-Boahen, has criticized what he describes as unfair treatment of his client, insisting that due process must be followed.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with GHOne TV, the former Akim Abuakwa South MP expressed frustration over being denied confidential access to Adu-Boahen, despite the absence of a court ruling affirming his guilt.
“No court has convicted him, yet he is being treated as if he is guilty. The law guarantees every citizen the presumption of innocence,” Atta Akyea asserted.
The lawyer also took aim at Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine, accusing him of “unmitigated prejudice” over remarks suggesting a plea bargain in a case where no formal charges have been filed.
“Can you imagine that? Urging people who haven’t even been charged to plea bargain? It undermines the legal process,” he argued.
Adu-Boahen was arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on March 21, 2025, upon his arrival at Kotoka International Airport.
His arrest is linked to allegations of embezzlement, fraud, and illicit financial dealings.
Atta Akyea has vowed to fight for his client’s legal rights, emphasizing that justice must not be compromised for political expediency.
