Franklin Cudjoe, President of policy think tank Imani Africa, has urged the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to remain focused on retrieving stolen state funds rather than getting sidetracked by distractions.
In a social media post, he emphasized the need for accountability, urging the government to ensure the recovery of misappropriated funds from individuals in the previous administration.
“There is a tall list of alleged and some easily provable economic crimes under the previous government,” he stated.
“The current government must not distract itself from the goal. It must make little or no mistakes. We need our money even if it takes 5 to 6 years in some cases.”
Cudjoe’s comments come amid ongoing investigations into financial crimes allegedly committed by members of the previous administration.
The Attorney General is expected to provide an update on these investigations and the recommendations made by the ORAL Committee.
His remarks also follow an apology rendered to Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Ernest Addison after a controversial raid at his residence.
While calling for caution, Cudjoe maintained that accountability, retrieval, and retribution must remain the government’s primary focus.
