President John Dramani Mahama has assured teachers and nursing trainees that their allowances will now be paid regularly through the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD).
Speaking at a durbar at the Jubilee Park in Tamale on Saturday as part of his “Thank You Tour” of the Northern Region, President Mahama said this move would eliminate payment delays, ensuring students receive their stipends just like government workers.
Earlier in the day, he paid a courtesy call on Ya-Na Abukari II, Overlord of Dagbon, at the Gbewaa Palace. Addressing the gathering, he reiterated key initiatives outlined in the 2025 Budget Statement, including the provision of free sanitary pads to keep girls in school during their menstrual periods.
The President also reaffirmed his commitment to completing the Eastern Corridor Road to enhance transportation and connectivity.
Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Ali Adolf John, appealed for the establishment of a military barracks in Yendi to help curb recurring conflicts in the area.
President Mahama expressed gratitude to the people of the region for their overwhelming support in the December elections, promising continued development efforts.
