In the early hours friday, a two-story buildings in the central business town of Adum pz in Kumasi, several shops has been gutted in a fire outbreak. The fire is said to have started at the popular Blue Light arena, close to Hello FM in kumasi around 6:15 am.
Shop owners and traders had to break into their shops to throw out their wares as the fire ravaged their shops. Most of the shops are dealers in mobile phones,, accessories, jewellery,footwear,clothing etc.
According to an eyewitness account, the fire sparked from a flicking electricity pole in the area, leading to a spark on the top floor of one of the buildings worth millions of Ghana cedis.
The Programmes Director at Hello FM, Nana Ama Ataffuah Quainoo, confirmed the evacuation of staff as the fire spread rapidly without any casualty recorded.
She, however, says the Fire Service personnel kept long in coming. After minutes of waiting for rapid response from the fire safety team, fire tenders have been sent to handle the situation at hand. The situation is currently being handled by the Ghana National Fire Service.
