Empty cash boxes found in Ex-BoG Governor’s Home – National Security

National Security operatives say they discovered empty money storage boxes at the Roman Ridge residence of former Bank of Ghana (BoG) Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, during a raid on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.

Officials told the media that the operation was backed by a search warrant and intelligence suggesting Dr. Addison may have been in possession of central bank funds. However, they firmly denied accusations of stealing cash or valuables from the home.

National Security also admitted to handling the property’s CCTV system, stating that they took the hard drive as part of their investigation.

“We did not take any money or jewelry from Dr. Addison’s home. We will, in due course, make public a full list of items retrieved during the search,” a National Security source assured.

The raid has sparked sharp criticism, with the Minority in Parliament condemning what they describe as politically motivated security operations.

The incident follows a similar National Security raid on February 11, 2025, at the residence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has urged President John Mahama to stop what he calls intimidation tactics.

“President John Dramani Mahama, please leave a legacy. Let it be said that even if there were excesses in the exercise of executive power when you had the opportunity, you changed it for good. We are tired of the intimidation, the attacks, and the hypocrisy,” Afenyo-Markin stated.

With public scrutiny mounting, National Security has promised to release a detailed report on seized items soon.
