The Wenchi-Bole-Wa-Tumu-Bolga road, a critical route connecting Ghana’s food basket to the Techiman market, is in a deplorable state, raising serious concerns among stakeholders.
Speaking on JoyNews AM Show on March 18, Hon. Issah Mohammed Bataglia, MP for Sissala East, expressed deep frustration over the deteriorating condition of the road.
He has since joined a mass campaign urging the government to urgently rehabilitate the stretch, which he describes as a major threat to food security and economic growth.
“Farmers are losing their produce because of the bad roads. Food is left to rot, and traders struggle to transport goods,” the MP lamented.

The call for immediate action has gained further backing from experts. Dr. Joshua Jebuntie Zaato, a political science lecturer at the University of Ghana, stressed on TV3 Ghana that the government must act swiftly to upgrade the road network.
He emphasized that improved roads would enable commercial farmers to transport food efficiently, boosting trade and national food security.
With mounting concerns from lawmakers, experts, and affected communities, pressure is intensifying on the government to fix the Wenchi-Bole-Wa-Tumu-Bolga road and ensure smooth transportation for farmers and traders.
