NAGRAT rejects GES Deputy Director-General appointment

The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has strongly opposed the appointment of Professor Smile Gavua Dzisi as Deputy Director-General for Management Services at the Ghana Education Service (GES).

NAGRAT argues that despite her qualifications, Professor Dzisi is not suited for the role.

The association insists that the position should be occupied by someone with experience within the GES structure.

Speaking to Citi News, NAGRAT’s National President, Angel Carbonu, called for an immediate reversal of the appointment, emphasizing that GES is a professional institution and not a political extension.

“The person who was removed from that position was a professional teacher who rose through the ranks. We will not tolerate the appointment of someone who is not a practitioner within the service space,” Carbonu stated.

He acknowledged Professor Dzisi’s expertise in the university sector but maintained that her appointment does not align with the needs of GES.

NAGRAT has urged the government to reconsider its decision to maintain professionalism within the education service.
