Outspoken reggae musician and broadcaster, Blakk Rasta, has launched a scathing attack on Ghana’s former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, condemning his tenure and its impact on the country’s economy.
Speaking on 3FM’s Urban Blend, Blakk Rasta did not hold back, accusing Ofori-Atta of mismanaging the economy, particularly in relation to pensioners who suffered financial losses under his leadership.
“In his tenure, we saw unprofessional haircuts meted out to our pensioners. Many of them visited early graves, some in unmarked graves,” he lamented.
“As we speak, their souls and spirits and ghosts will keep chasing Ofori-Atta. It will never be well with him until he comes to apologize fervently and passionately to the people of this country.”
Blakk Rasta also took aim at Ofori-Atta’s successor, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, calling his appointment a rushed decision.
According to him, the government never planned to make him Finance Minister but was forced to replace Ofori-Atta due to his poor performance.
He further accused the former Finance Minister of arrogance, stating that his refusal to step down worsened Ghana’s economic crisis.
“We saw a pretending Finance Minister full of ego who would never step aside for the nation’s economy to become better. His own uncle, the president, encouraged him on his ego trip when the people were suffocating under his poor and irresponsible leadership.”
Blakk Rasta also criticized the controversial e-levy, which was initially marketed as a financial savior but failed to prevent Ghana from seeking an IMF bailout.
“He lied to us that a certain e-levy was going to save us from running to the IMF. But what happened? Less than a week later, they still went ahead to the IMF, begging for billions of dollars.”
