Tragic loss: Electrician electrocuted while fixing power fault in Navrongo

A young electrician known as Alaye Electricals has tragically died after being electrocuted while working on a faulty utility pole near Navrongo Secondary School on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

Eyewitnesses say Alaye climbed the pole to fix the issue during a power outage. Unfortunately, while he was still working, electricity was suddenly restored, resulting in his instant electrocution.

Local reporter Anupuo confirmed the incident to News Net GH, stating, “There was a problem with the high-tension poles, so he was called to fix it. The power was out when he arrived, but while working, the electricity was restored, leading to his tragic death.”

His body was later retrieved and transported to the War Memorial Hospital mortuary in Navrongo.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement, but the incident has raised concerns about safety measures for electricians working on live power lines.

Residents of Navrongo have expressed sorrow over the loss, with many calling for improved coordination between electricians and power providers to prevent such tragedies.

Some have urged the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to enhance communication and implement stricter safety protocols before power restoration.
