Scores of teachers in the Kassena-Nankana West District took to the streets of Paga this morning, demanding the immediate removal of District Education Director George Woyongo.
The educators, clad in red armbands and chanting protest slogans, accused Woyongo of misconduct and incompetence.
According to the aggrieved teachers, the director has been engaging in arbitrary transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions without due process.
They claim his leadership style has created fear and uncertainty among staff, making it difficult for them to perform their duties effectively.
“We can no longer tolerate his high-handedness. If authorities fail to act, we will abandon the classrooms,” one of the protesters stated.
The demonstration disrupted activities in the district capital, with teachers marching through major streets before converging at the District Education Office to present their petition.
As of now, there has been no official response from the Ghana Education Service or the district authorities.
However, tension remains high, with teachers vowing to escalate their actions if their concerns are not addressed swiftly.
