Okyeman youth demand respect for leaders amid JB Danquah controversy

The Coalition for Youth Development in Okyeman has called for greater respect for Ghana’s leaders following an alleged derogatory comment made by Tamale Central MP, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, about Dr. JB Danquah.

The MP reportedly described Dr. Danquah as a CIA operative and a traitor during a parliamentary session, prompting the youth group to petition Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, for redress.

Akomane Yeboah, the group’s convenor, emphasized the need to honor past and present leaders for their contributions to Ghana’s progress.

“It is essential that we respect our leaders… Unsavory comments like this should not be entertained in our body politics,” he told Newsnetgh.com on Friday, March 7.

The group’s appeal underscores rising tensions over how national figures are portrayed in public discourse.
