Upper East RCC refutes claims of Minister’s involvement in convoy accident

The Upper East Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) has dismissed reports that Regional Minister Hon. Donatus Akamugri Atanga was involved in a convoy accident while traveling to Bawku.

Contrary to media claims, including those by Onua TV, the minister was not directly affected by the incident.

The RCC clarified that the accident involved three vehicles from his convoy—a police pickup, a fire service vehicle, and a regional House of Chiefs pickup. The crash occurred when the lead dispatch rider swerved to avoid a flock of sheep, causing a chain collision as the vehicles behind him braked suddenly.

Two police officers sustained minor injuries; one was treated and discharged, while the other remained under observation as a precaution.

Despite the incident, Hon. Atanga continued his schedule, meeting Zug-Raan Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II in Bawku before proceeding to the Nabdam District to engage with the Paramount Chiefs of Sakote and Nangodi.

The RCC assured the public that the minister is safe, in good health, and actively performing his duties.
