Kwame Ntow Amoah has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), succeeding Edward Bawa.
A statement announcing the leadership change confirmed that Bawa, who served as CEO for a few weeks, has been reassigned to GOIL.
GNPC staff expressed optimism about Amoah’s leadership, confident in his expertise to drive the corporation’s strategic growth and success.

Mr. Amoah has held several key leadership roles, including Deputy CEO of GNPC and Director of Petroleum at the Ministry of Energy, where he also served as an advisor to the Minister.
He has been a member and chairman of various national and international industry boards and played a crucial role in international arbitration cases involving Ghana.
Notably, he was a Technical Advisor in Ghana’s victory in the Maritime Boundary Case on September 23, 2017.
His efforts have attracted significant investments that positioned Ghana as a commercial oil producer.
He played a pivotal role in securing $7 billion for the Sankofa Oil and Gas Development Project, backed by a $700 million World Bank partial risk guarantee.
Amoah holds an MBA from IMD, Switzerland, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Ghana.
He has also participated in international leadership, management, and specialized energy and petroleum training programs.
