NPP withdraws from all Media General platforms

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced its withdrawal from all Media General platforms, including TV3, 3 FM, and Onua FM, effective immediately.

This decision was revealed in a press release dated January 26, 2025, signed by Richard Ahiagbah, the party’s director of communications.

The press statement explained that the decision followed prolonged attempts to address concerns regarding perceived unprofessionalism, bias, and abusive moderation by Media General hosts.

Despite assurances from the media house since 2023, the NPP stated that the issues remained unresolved.

The party highlighted specific incidents, including one where a guest made offensive remarks about former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on a program hosted by Keminni Amanor.

The host allegedly condoned the remarks, which the NPP described as unprofessional and in poor taste.

The statement also criticized the paneling on Media General’s political shows, accusing them of favoring opposing political affiliations while marginalizing NPP representatives.

According to the release, this approach undermines balanced discussions and reflects an activist stance rather than impartial journalism.

While the withdrawal is not the NPP’s preferred outcome, the party expressed hope that Media General would address these concerns and adopt a balanced approach to serving the public’s information needs.
