Cyclist honored by Ya-Naa for climate Action efforts

In a momentous event at the Gbewaa Palace, His Majesty the Ya-Naa, Overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom, honored a cyclist and climate activist, James Kumbeni for his remarkable contributions to environmental advocacy.

The recognition comes during the activist’s nationwide Climate Action Cycling Tour, which has garnered widespread attention across Ghana.

The cyclist was bestowed with the kingdom’s highest honor, receiving a smock, a ceremonial hat, and other gifts—a testament to the respect and admiration of the Dagbon people.

These symbols represent the pinnacle of recognition for distinguished individuals in Dagbon society.

“I never imagined this day would come in my life,” he remarked with emotion. “I never thought my bicycle could take me this far, yet here I stand.”

During the ceremony, the cyclist shared his ambitious plans to ride from Ghana to Morocco, an initiative aimed at furthering awareness about climate change and inspiring global action.

The Ya-Naa offered his blessings and wished him success on this bold journey.

Expressing gratitude for the honor, the cyclist praised the Ya-Naa’s leadership and prayed for his continued wisdom and good health to guide the Dagbon kingdom
