No free pass: Minority vows to track every NDC campaign promise

The Minority in Parliament has launched a fierce critique of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing the party of using deceptive promises to win the 2024 general elections.

Speaking during the debate on President John Dramani Mahama’s ministerial nominees on Tuesday, January 21, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin called out the NDC’s campaign tactics and pledged to hold the government accountable for its pledges.

Afenyo-Markin expressed skepticism about the government’s ability to deliver on its promises, warning that electoral victory does not equate to unchecked power.

“We will hold your feet to the fire. You think you campaigned and got it handed to you on a silver platter? You will see,” he said, vowing that the Minority would keep a close watch on the government’s actions to ensure transparency and accountability.

The Minority Leader accused the NDC of setting unrealistic expectations during the campaign, predicting that Ghanaians would soon uncover what he described as the party’s true intentions.

“Today, you are in government, and we will follow through on every single promise you made while on the campaign platform,” Afenyo-Markin reiterated, signaling his caucus’s determination to track and scrutinize the government’s performance.
