The Appointments Committee of Parliament is currently vetting Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the Minister-designate for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, to evaluate her qualifications and preparedness for the role.
The 11-member committee is focusing on critical issues, including the Affirmative Action Bill, challenges facing school feeding caterers, the surge in child labour cases, and other priorities within the Ministry’s mandate.
Born on April 16, 1976, in Krowor, Greater Accra Region, Naa Momo is a seasoned politician and advocate for social justice. With a career spanning over two decades, she is known for her dedication to women’s and children’s rights and her grassroots mobilisation efforts. She began her political journey in 2000 as an assemblywoman and later became the presiding member of the Krowor Municipal Assembly.
As the vetting progresses, the committee will scrutinise her vision and plans for addressing the Ministry’s pressing issues, as well as her experience and ability to lead in this critical role.
