Rex Asanga failed the people of Bolga as MCE compared to Amiyuure – NDC Communications Officer.

The Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Upper East Region, Abdallah Jonathan Salifu, has delivered a damning verdict on Rex Asanga’s tenure as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Bolgatanga, rating his predecessor, Joseph Amiyuure, as a superior leader.

Abdallah, speaking on Dreamz FM’s State of Our Nation, expressed his disappointment in Asanga’s performance, stating that the former MCE failed to meet the high expectations many had due to his track record in NGO leadership.

“Honorable Rex Asanga, he should pardon me, but the expectation I, for instance, had for him—he disappointed me with the kind of leadership he exhibited as MCE. If I want to rate him and Honorable Amiyuure, to be very frank, I will rate Amiyuure higher than him,” Abdallah said.

According to Abdallah, Asanga, who succeeded Amiyuure in 2021, failed to leverage his extensive experience in the NGO sector to bring meaningful development to the Bolgatanga Municipality, despite having access to resources and goodwill.

He criticized Asanga’s inability to mobilize adequate resources for the municipality, a shortfall the ex-MCE himself admitted in a previous interview.

While Asanga’s appointment initially received bipartisan approval, Abdallah argued that his leadership ultimately fell short of expectations.

He lamented that Amiyuure, who was once considered underwhelming, appeared to have delivered better results in comparison.

Rex Asanga’s tenure came to an end following President John Dramani Mahama’s recent revocation of MMDCE appointments.
