Dr. Ayew Afriyie, Member of Parliament for Effiduase Asokore in the Ashanti Region, has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to prioritize rebuilding their party rather than criticizing the government of John Dramani Mahama prematurely.
Speaking to Oyerepa TV, Dr. Afriyie stressed that the NPP, which faced significant setbacks after the 2024 elections, needs internal reforms and unity.
He urged party members to focus on these efforts rather than finding fault with the new administration.
“With all due respect, let’s be honest with ourselves. This is not the time to bash him [Mahama] for the wrongs he may be committing. NPP communicators should allow him some peace of mind to form his government and present his first budget,” Dr. Afriyie advised.
He added that it would be more appropriate to analyze the government’s performance after giving it time to settle.
For now, he emphasized, the NPP should focus on self-reflection and engaging its supporters to rebuild trust and strength within the party.
