Former President Nana Akufo-Addo was celebrated for his unwavering health, resilience, and impactful leadership during a thanksgiving mass held in his honor at the Accra Ridge Church on January 18, 2025.
Rt. Rev. Dr. Daniel Sylvanus Mensah Torto, Anglican Bishop of Accra, highlighted Akufo-Addo’s exceptional physical well-being and safety throughout his eight years in office.
“Despite traveling in vehicles and racing at top speed, he has not been in an accident. Despite the pressures of high office, he has never been hospitalized,” the Bishop noted, crediting divine protection for the former president’s stability.
The Bishop cited Lamentations 3:22-23, emphasizing God’s love and faithfulness as key to Akufo-Addo’s journey.
He declared, “God has been good to His Excellency and his family,” underscoring the spiritual foundation of the former president’s resilience.
The ceremony also celebrated Akufo-Addo’s legacy, with a citation recognizing his achievements, including the landmark Free Senior High School policy, which expanded access to secondary education, and his contributions to economic development, industrialization, and democratic governance.
His support for the Anglican Church and religious institutions was also acknowledged.
Akufo-Addo’s tenure, marked by significant strides in education and infrastructure, was lauded as a testament to his belief in blending faith, leadership, and nation-building.
