Over ten people are feared dead following violent clashes between small-scale miners and military personnel guarding the Anglogold Ashanti Obuasi mine.
The incident reportedly occurred when a group of miners entered one of the mine’s shafts, resulting in a confrontation with the heavily armed soldiers.
According to tv3’s correspondent, Nana Yaw Opoku, several individuals sustained injuries during the altercation and are receiving treatment at various hospitals.
Reports indicate that three miners who suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on Saturday night have since died.
